Privacy Policy

The short version
Ply & Pan does not have user accounts, does not sell data, and collects as little as a website reasonably can. The three places data is involved at all are analytics, affiliate links and the contact form. Each is described below.
What we collect
Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are read and how people arrive. It sets cookies and collects the usual aggregate information: pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP address, device and browser type, referring site, and anonymized interaction events such as which buy links get clicked. IP addresses are anonymized by Google Analytics 4 by default. We use this to decide what to write next, not to identify anyone.
The contact form. If you write to us, we receive the name, email address, subject and message you send, and nothing else. We use it to reply to you and to fix whatever you told us about. We do not add contact-form addresses to any mailing list, because there is no mailing list.
Server logs. Our hosting provider keeps standard access logs, which include IP addresses, for security and operational purposes.
What we do not collect
- No accounts, logins or passwords. There is nothing to sign up for.
- No payment information. We are not a retailer and take no payments.
- No newsletter or marketing list.
- No data sold, rented or shared with data brokers, ever.
- No advertising networks or retargeting pixels.
Affiliate links
Product links on this site are affiliate links. When you click one you pass briefly through a redirect on this domain, which applies our Amazon Associates tag and forwards you to the retailer. Amazon then sets its own cookies under its own privacy policy, and if you buy something we may earn a commission.
Our redirect does not store anything about you. We do record that a buy link was clicked as an anonymized analytics event, which tells us which recommendations readers find useful. Once you arrive at Amazon you are subject to Amazon's privacy policy rather than ours. The commercial side of this is set out on the affiliate disclosure page.
Cookies
The cookies on this site come from Google Analytics. We set no advertising cookies and run no retargeting.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics entirely using Google's browser add-on. Neither will break the site: nothing here requires cookies to function.
Third parties
- Google Analytics — site analytics, as described above.
- Our hosting provider — serves the site and keeps standard access logs.
- Microsoft — delivers contact-form messages to our inbox.
- Amazon — the destination of affiliate links, governed by its own privacy policy.
Data retention
Analytics data is retained according to our Google Analytics configuration and is aggregate rather than identifying. Contact-form emails are kept in our inbox for as long as they are useful for correspondence and corrections. If you would like a message you sent deleted, ask and we will delete it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you, or to object to its processing. Given how little we hold, in practice this usually means contact-form correspondence.

Children
This site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it. Material changes will be described rather than slipped in.
